Future Euro Championships - 2016

There are plans that Euro 2016 could expand to 24 teams. UEFA will decide by Spring 2007, if these plans will get the go ahead.

Even though, Euro 2016 is nine years away, but there are a few countries already considering putting their names forward to get the right to host the 15th Euro championship. Scotland are among one of the nations interested, with the possibility Ireland to join them as joint hosts, if the competition becomes a 24 team tournament. Norway and Sweden will also need to expand a few of their stadiums if they are likely to host the event. But two countries to host Euro 2016 is unlikely, as Austria and Switzerland are hosting the championship in 2008 and Poland and Ukraine are taking the honours in 2012

France seems to be the likely choice, if the competition is to expand, due to their transport, stadiums, size and football culture.
