Welcome

Austria/Switzerland, Greece/Turkey, and Hungary were all recommended before the final vote and were candidates to host the finals of the European Championships in 2008. Greece and Turkey were eliminated and the final decison was to be between Hungary and Austria/Switzerland and battle it out to host the tournament in the Summer of 2008. Austria and Switerland the joint host eventually came out as winners.

Format

Euro 2008 will have a total of 16 teams involved in the tournament, with the hosts Austria and Switzerland gaining automatic qualification, Whereas the remaining 14 teams will be determined by qualifying matches which has been ongoing since August 2006.
